Applying for bad credit second mortgages
1 July 2008
Second mortgages for people with a bad credit history are generally quite rare, as it is difficult to maintain the first mortgage if you are irresponsible with credit. Still, missed bills and credit card debt can bring some people into a bad credit situation despite a pristine mortgage.
In these cases, it can merely be a case of improving your credit rating through the minimisation of debt and knowledge of your credit history so that you may have a better chance of taking out second mortgages. It is quite possible that you may have forgotten to pay a debt in the past and this has come back to haunt you. It may seem unlikely that someone would forget a debt, but interest free loans from retail stores can easily be forgotten when you move.
With some work on your credit rating by paying your bills on time and making sure you have no forgotten debts, you should be able to improve your chances of approval for second mortgages. The more equity you hold in your current property as well, the better your prospects.
